When I was 12, I watched my mum take her last breath. This is my story.

Sitting on a swing with someone pushing you behind. Each time you swing back, you expect a familiar push. All of a sudden, the push disappears. Your swing loses its momentum.

A gap year is typically a one-year break before or after university/ college, where a student chooses to engage in developmental activities outside of the educational system. Why do people choose to take a gap year?

If you have this question on your mind, the first thing I will tell you is: only you can decide for yourself. At the end of this post, you can watch all the videos out there. People can tell you it’s a waste of time. People can tell you it’s the best thing you will ever decide to do. Just like any decision, it’s what you think that matters.

Taking a year off can seem really intimidating. What should I do? Is my year going to be worth it? What if I end up wasting one year when everyone else is in school? How do I pay for my own expenses?

These songs have helped me through some of the toughest moments in my life. On days when I really miss my mum, I will just lay down and listen to these songs.
